Three Easy Ways to Stay Hydrated

Everyone knows that drinking enough water is important, but many find it difficult to drink the recommended amount: 8 glasses or 64 ounces PER DAY. We here at PRH know how that feels – plain water gets old fast, and its easy to let your hydration goals fall by the wayside. However, drinking enough water is SUPER important, and so we have come up with a few tricks to keep you hooked. But first, why is it necessary to stay hydrated? Your body is composed of close to 60% water, and water plays a crucial role in basic bodily functions, like transporting nutrients and flushing toxins. It’s important to stay hydrated so that your body can function at top levels, otherwise you could be dealing with general fatigue, digestion issues and tired, sore muscles. Plus, staying hydrated is necessary for keeping your skin looking healthy and vibrant. Here are three tricks to keep you hydrated: Drink Sparkling Water Add some fizz to your water to make it more appealing – try plain or flavored water. Add Flavor – Emergen-C packets: we love tossing one of these into a full glass or liter-bottle of water to add flavor and lots of vitamins. Great for hydrating after exercising, and a low-sugar option for those of you that want some more taste! – Fruit slices: Try adding a few cucumber, apple, orange, lemon or lime slices to flavor your water and give it a little zest. Drink Tea! Add an herbal tea bag (no caffeine!) to a liter of cold water or stick with hot herbal teas. Try adding some lemon and ginger to not only hydrate but warm the system in the colder months. There you have it! Set attainable hydration goals for one week and see how you do.
